John Legend's song Glory and its relationship to Childish Gambino's song This Is America.

Selma, a film about black Americans fighting their way to 'freedom'. At the end of this influential film, John Legend, sings Glory. A song with very powerful well written lyrics, lyrics that bring back allusions to the pain and suffering black society had to shed in order to gain their own rights to freedom.

But one has to wonder, where almost 60 years later, why are these same issues coming up in our black America? We should be moving forward, when it appears we are moving backwards. It is Childish Gambino's song, This Is America, which addresses such issues as gun violence and media's influence in society. It is these, and various other allusions, such as the Jim Crow laws, that make you wonder, how far have we really come in the past 60 years?
