Advertisements that would be banned today.

"On the one hand, it can be argued that advertising mirrors society, and is not presenting any stereotypes not already held. Advertising merely reflects our lifestyles, and uses repetition and insistence that this is what life already is to drive consumer engagement and purchase. Conversely, the "mold" argument insists that advertising influences society, and thus encourages stereotypes that are shaped by media."

When examining an advertisement visual clues are included as to which era and context the ad orgininated from. But it is these social connotations that I as a teacher am curious about.

Leading to the discussion, what makes an ad timeless and what doesn't?

Below are a list of advertisements. Ads which had they been produced today, would have been accepted so easily into our society.

But having been produced for a particular era previous to ours. These ads were quite normal and largely accepted "back in the day".
