In 1937, the Star published a series of New Year’s resolutions for women, showing how times have changed.

What were New Year’s resolutions like some 80 years ago?

We dug into the Star archives and found this feature published on Dec. 31, 1937 that appears to be a tongue-in-cheek guide for “easy to keep” resolutions.

Resolution 1: “Be lazy with a clear conscience.”

Resolution 2: “I resolve to wear eye shadow and make myself glamorous on dress-up evenings.”
