Pygmalion (background information)
Why was Galatea created? Originally Galatea was created by Pygmalion, a sculptor looking for the perfect wife. This video will explain a little bit of the Pygmalion myth.

The story (play) we will be focusing on is George Bernard Shaw's version of Pygmalion. A play written in 1912, a time of early tensions in Britain. 6 years before woman were allowed to vote and 2 years before the first world war. Many tensions were arising in England at the time, and Shaw chose this story to bring about his political views of society and social class/tensions at the time.
