Analysing visual texts

We live in a world that is full of moving images. Think of the number of movies you have seen this month. Think of the number of video recordings that are uploaded to YouTube every minute. In a world where screens are more and more prevalent, it's useful to know how to analyse the language of film. The language and literature course offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of this medium. Film is considered a 'text', and you may analyse a short film in a further oral activity or written task. This page gives you some of the basic terminology so that you have the tools to explore film more effectively.
